The Bold Forester is a locals pub that also does a good trade in food. Beers are from the Greene King range and there’s a good range of gins, plus a weekly quiz and occasional live music and comedy.
The pub makes good use of its site, curving nicely from the corner into matching frontages in each street. The nicely preserved carved frieze shows that the pub was once owned by Long’s, a Southsea brewery that was taken over and closed way back in 1933. There is another Longs facade at the Auckland not far away.
