The Carpenters is a town centre pub but it’s hidden away in a warren of back streets behind Boston Stump (photo 1). It’s a traditional corner local with low ceilings and a few rooms and it sells all four Bateman beers.
The pub is Grade II listed, dating from the early 19th century and has been a pub since 1875. The nice old painted Bateman’s sign on the wall was covered up by gastro grey-blue paint in 2018 but thankfully has now been restored – this the original version (photo 2).
