The tall five storey slate stone Cobweb dates from the 18th century and was originally a corn mill and grain store. It became a pub in 1945 and reputedly got its name because of its condition after standing empty for several years.
The pub has two bars and a restaurant and features live music weekly with rock, folk and pop. They have their own shanty group, the Cobweb Crew. Fresh local food is served lunchtimes and evenings and four Cornish beers are always on tap.
Back in 2004 an astonishing flood destroyed much of Boscastle, and cars were swept past the Cobweb and out to sea. Nevertheless the pub was one of the first public buildings to reopen.
