Cock Inn, Henham

The Cock Inn in Henham has a classic location on the large village green opposite the village church.  Henham is a few miles north of Stansted Airport and is locally famous for its dragon or Flying Serpent which had many sightings in the 17th century.

The pub’s main focus is food in the separate restaurant, but it is still a community pub with a bar with a good range of ales, a snug, a TV for sport and a pub garden. The Saffron Brewery is in the same village and the Cock sometimes stocks their ales.

It’s a Grade II listed timber-framed and plastered building dating mostly from the 1700s but its core may be even older.

The Cock appeared in a 1993 episode of Lovejoy about the roguish antiques dealer played by Ian McShane.
