Prolific pub architects W.B. Starr & Hall had built twenty or so pubs in Nottingham in the 1920s and early 1930s, but it wasn’t until 1933 that they designed their first art deco pub.  The Crown Hotel, built for Home Brewery, is a striking art deco moderne building with a flat roof, wide metal Crittall windows, and a central tower with carved stone ‘Home Ales’ lettering. It almost certainly had a high quality art deco interior but this is long gone.

It’s away from the town centre on the main A52 and is a popular community estate pub with a focus on dining.
