The White Lion is currently closed.

The tiny hamlet of Cray is located high in Upper Wharfedale on the climb over to Wensleydale. The White Lion is a former drovers inn dating from the 17th century. It had a substantial makeover in 2015 and now boasts exposed beams, stone flagged floors and an open fire.

The contemporary menu is at the gastro end of the scale and meals are served lunch and evening.  There are three real ales including the local Wharfedale Blonde. Accommodation is in nine ensuite rooms, some in the pub and some in the next door barn.

These photos were taken on a winter’s day and you can just see the snow on top of the hill in the background of photo 1.
