Traditional Town Pub
If you like live music and real ale the Duck & Drake is the place for you. It’s a two roomed Victorian pub between the historic Kirkgate Market and the bus station with live bands Friday to Sunday every week. Bands are mostly rock and blues including a few tribute bands, and you can find out who’s playing when on the pub’s website.
The pub also serves up to an amazing 15 cask ales, mostly from Yorkshire breweries, and its regular appearance in the annual Good Beer Guide along with its up-to-date Cask Marque accreditation suggests that they’re all top quality.
It’s a traditional pub with ancient floorboards and bench seating around the walls with a corner stage in the music room. The rock star illustrations around the walls are by the same artist who created the folk and country musician images in the Grove.
