Traditional Town Pub

The John Hewitt in the Cathedral Quarter is run by the Boundary Brewing Co-operative which is owned and run by its members. Boundary was a good match for the pub owners, the Belfast Unemployed Resource Centre which provides advice, support and skills from a building just behind. The pub is named after Belfast born John Hewitt, the late poet, historian and socialist who opened the Resource Centre on May Day 1983.

Boundary beers plus a few guests are poured from 16 taps and from bottles and cans in the fridge. Food is from the on-site Frankie’s Lasagneria which serves, well, lasagne, but also burgers, subs and fries.

There’s an eclectic range of live music including jazz funk fusion, blues, trad sessions (see photo), a regular jazz band and the Belfast Groove Collective.
