Located in “Holbeck Urban Village”, the Midnight Bell caters for local office workers and residents from the many warehouse buildings which are now upmarket flats.
It’s an open plan pub on two floors with a large paved beer garden at the back. Cask beers include most from Leeds Brewery plus three or four changing beers from other breweries, especially Camerons. Food is available all day with a main menu plus a lighter lunch menu on offer until 5pm. Sunday lunch is a big deal with traditional roasts available until 7pm.
The building is Grade II listed and was once part of the Round Foundry developed by celebrated Leeds engineer Matthew Murray in the early 1800s. The pub and adjacent buildings are the remains of the world’s first fully integrated engineering works. It was converted to a pub by Leeds Brewery in 2007.
It’s still generally thought of a Leeds Brewery pub even though the pubs were bought by Camerons a few years ago, and there have been no really noticeable changes.
