Modern town pub
The Angel Inn in Stockport reopened in 2018, a full 67 years after it closed as a pub. For most of the that time the building was a retail premises and the new local owners have have converted it into an attractive modern pub focused on cask beer. The carved stone exterior has been restored and the original Angel Inn sign from when it was a Bell’s Brewery pub is now highlighted again (photo 1).
It has a long interior with a number of drinking spaces leading to a wood panelled snug at the back (photo 2). There’s also a large garden area outside which is popular on sunny days and sometimes used for live music.
The excellent Thornbridge Jaipur is a regular and there 5 changing beers which include a bitter, two dark beers and two pale beers.
