The Anglers Rest in Millers Dale is in a delightful setting down a narrow lane next to the River Wye (photos 1, 2 & 4). It’s an 18th century pub with many rooms, including a hikers bar, where muddy boots are welcome. Just across the river is the Monsal Trail, a walking and cycling route which follows the old railway up to Monsal Head and on to Bakewell.
The pub is open all day with five cask beers from mostly Peak District and Sheffield breweries. Proper pub grub is served lunchtimes and evenings Monday to Friday and most of the day on Saturdays and Sundays. A self catering apartment is available.
The inn sign shows an angler who is most definitely at rest (photo 3)!
