Modern Pub
The Arch & Abbey is a micropub that was converted from a ladies dress shop in 2018 and it’s still easy to see where the window displays would have been.
It serves 4 changing cask beers and a large range of interesting bottled and canned beers from around Europe. There’s a printed beer menu, Belgian style, to help you choose. There are also a few ciders and an impressive range of spirits from Yorkshire.
The pub’s name comes from two of Whitby’s tourist attractions, the whalebone arch near the harbour and the abbey on the cliff.
The Waiting Room in Whitby rail station is a sister pub to the Arch & Abbey and is also well worth a visit.
