Blossoms was run by landlady Mary Body for 25 years until 1967 and no alterations were made while she was there. It still has its lobby bar plus three largely unaltered rooms, all with wonderful stained glass windows (photo 1).
The pub is a favourite of the local Camra branch who say it is one of the real ale highlights of Stockport with superb examples of the Robinson’s ales on offer. Robinson’s famous Old Tom is sold in the winter months. There are pub games including pool and bar billiards, a weekly quiz and live music in the upstairs function room.
The pub dates back to 1824 and was called after the old name of the street, Blossoms Hill. It stands behind the Grade I listed St Georges’s Church, built in the 1890s, and the pub was used for planning meetings as the church was being built (photo 2).
Blossoms was owned by the local Bells Brewery until Robinsons took them over in 1949 and one of their posters is displayed on the wall (photo 3).
