Traditional Town Pub

Wetherspoons have followed Fullers in taking over grand old city centre banks and converting them into pubs. The Counting House was once the main Glasgow office of the Edinburgh-based Bank of Scotland and it’s an impressive Category A Listed building designed in the Italian Renaissance style by J.T. Rochead (photo 1).

Inside the old banking hall is pretty much intact with Corinthian columns, sculptures and a huge central dome (photo 2).

The pub has the standard Wetherspoons all-day menu and a range of real ales from across Scotland and the UK.

Another impressive building owned by Wetherspoons in central Glasgow is the Crystal Palace.
