Cricketers Arms, Rickling Green

Rickling Green Road
Rickling Green

The aptly named Cricketers is situated on the village green (photo 1) where cricket is played throughout the summer. The cricket game features the local team Rickling Green Ramblers in a Herts & Essex Cricket League match (photo 2).

History was made in 1882 when the highest score made in a single innings on a single day (920!) was played here.  The inn sign commemorates an even earlier game, probably in the late 1700s judging by the cricket bat and costume (photo 3).

The Grade II listed pub dates from the late 18th century and it has a comfortable bar, a restaurant and 10 ensuite rooms. The owner is an award winning chef and food is available lunchtimes and evenings.
