The Falkland Arms is a partly thatched 17th century pub built of local honey-coloured ironstone in a picture postcard village (photo 1). The timeless interior has old flagstone floors, an inglenook fireplace, scrubbed oak tables and a collection of old beer mugs and jugs hanging from the ceiling (photo 2).

The pub is named after Lucius Cary, the 2nd Viscount Falkland and the inn sign displays the family coat of arms (photo 3).

The pub is now owned by Wadworth Brewery and serves their beers along with one or two from the local Hook Norton Brewery. Food is available lunchtimes and evenings and the pub has three guest rooms.

Until the 1970s the village had been allowed to fall into decay by the Lord of the Manor and many cottages were in a sorry state. This helped to preserve the character of the village but it was only after the Department of the Environment intervened in 1978 that the buildings were saved from dereliction. All have now been restored, and the vista of the green surrounded by golden stone cottages with thatched and stone roofs makes this one of the most attractive villages in the country.
