The Flying Horse is the only pub on London’s famous Oxford Street. I always knew the pub as the Tottenham and this was its name for over 100 years until it changed back to its even older name a few years ago.
The tall narrow Flemish style exterior (photo 1) is echoed inside by a striking long narrow bar with tiling, oak panelling and sumptous painted mirrors by Victorian decorative artist Felix de Jong (photo 2).
Seven changing real ales are sold and there’s a good selection of craft beers as well. Lunchtime food is served and the pub shows sport on TV.
The pub is a favourite of TV detective Cormoran Strike from the TV series Strike based on the novels of Robert Galbraith (aka J.K. Rowling).
