Dacre is a historic village in the north east of the Lake District just a couple of miles from Ullswater. It has its own castle, ancient parish church and a graveyard with mysterious carved bears. The Horse and Farrier is wonderfully picturesque, a listed building which developed from three 18th century cottages.
The pub offers a range of interesting ales, both cask and keg, and has a beer festival each year, usually in July. The pub is popular with tourists as might be expected, but also has a great community feel and is well used by locals. Lunchtime and evening meals and a self catering apartment are available.
