The Jackalope dates from 1777 and is one of very few mews pubs still remaining in London (photos 2 & 3). It’s Grade II listed and has some lovely wood panelling inside, plus a couple of original etched glass windows in the doors which once indicated different pub rooms. Until 2018 the pub was called the Dover Castle.

The ‘Bottle Entrance’ (photo 1) was probably the off sales but the other door glass unusually states ‘Retail Entrance’ which probably refers to the main bar. The partition that would have divided the two areas has gone.

The pub sells four cask beers and up to twelve keg beers. The downstairs kitchen serves Xiao Mian noodle dishes, based on the style found in Chongqing, China.
