The Kings Arms was the Drovers Arms in the 1980s British TV series All Creatures Great and Small about country vets (photo 1). It is an 18th century inn with three characterful rooms with flagged floors and open fires and remains an unspoilt country hotel.
The building was once part of the Manor House which still stands next door and was converted into a public house in the early nineteenth century.
Beers from Theakstons, Black Sheep and the local Yorkshire Dales Brewery are served, and food is available lunchtimes and evenings. Despite being mainly aimed at tourists, the pub has real community feel.
The wonderful metal inn sign (photo 2) is probably very old, but you never know!
