The Kings Head is unusual in being a thatched pub in a town centre, and its local nickname is ‘The Thatch’ (photos 1 & 2). It’s popular for both its good range of ales from Batemans (it’s a Good Beer Guide regular) and for its hot pies. There is live music Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons.
It’s a very old building, dating from the 16th century and, again unusually, is made from colourwashed cob rather than the brick you would expect in a Lincolnshire town. It was the blueprint for a pub for Hornby model railways and one is displayed behind the counter.
