Old Albion, Crantock

Langurroc Road
Crantock
Cornwall

The Old Albion, whitewashed and thatched, is in a picture postcard setting next to the church gate in Crantock (photo 1). Now popular with holidaymakers taking advantage of the nearby sandy beach, it was once a used for smuggling through secret tunnels.

It is a food-led pub serving meals lunchtime and evening with beers from Cornish breweries.

The two inn sign photos show the Albion, the last warship to be built on the nearby River Gannet which divides Crantock from Newquay. One shows the old and faded but traditional sign (photo 2) and the other shows the newer idealised one which replaced it (photo 3).

Crantock is a quiet seaside village, only two miles from the bustling resort of Newquay.
