Traditional Town Pub, 1* Heritage Pub

Ye Olde Leathern Bottel is an attractive whitewashed and timbered pub on the edge of Wednesbury. The pub namers certainly went to town with the “Olde Englishe” spelling, and though it’s probably not as old as the claimed date of 1510, it does date back quite a while.

The pub is impressively busy, mainly due to landlord Karl who has built up the trade in past few years. There’s a good selection of four changing real ales from around the country, a weekly quiz, football on TV, fortnightly karaoke and live music on Saturday evenings.

The four-roomed interior is quite old, in pub terms, with features from both the 1930s and the 1960s. The public bar at the front left still has its inter-war bar counter and bar back but some rooms have some interesting 1960s features. The snug on the front right has fake timbered walls dating from that time even though the pub has genuine old timbering.
