The Pendle Inn is a large and attractive stone-built pub in the centre of the village of Barley (photo 1). The carved sign above the elegant entrance shows that the pub was built in 1930 (photo 2). Inside it still has several rooms and some of the 1930s fittings and furniture remain. It’s popular with walkers and car-based diners and serves 6 changing real ales. The pub was bought by Thwaites Brewery in 2020.
The name comes from the famous Pendle Hill nearby and the main path to the summit starts in the village. The village is also the start of the Pendle Witches Walking Trail.
