The Queen’s Arms is an attractive, stone-built, whitewashed pub in a remote village in the Yorkshire Dales. It spent the first years of its life as a farmhouse before becoming a pub in 1843. Inside it has bare stone walls, a flagged floor and beamed ceilings. Since the photo was taken in 2021 a new porch has been added to the main entrance.
The food is a big draw, all home cooked by chef Matt, with hand made pies and puddings, hand-cut chunky chips and Sunday roasts. You’ll need to book for food, especially for Sunday lunch.
At the back of the pub is the Lamb Brewery, crafting ales with no-nonsense names like Pale, Bitter and X Mild. Two of these are normally on sale, along with a well known brand like Taylor’s Boltmaker or Tetley’s Bitter. The Lamb Brewery beers have proved to be very popular and can be found in pubs across the area and as far away as Leeds.
