The Racehorses Hotel is situated just over Town Foot Bridge in the centre of the village on the main road through Wharfedale (photo 1). It dates from 1740 and started life as a coaching inn. It pretty much continues to do the same thing today as a country inn with 13 en-suite bedrooms. Food is served all day Saturday and Sunday and lunchtimes and evenings during the week. Cask ales are from Timothy Taylor’s of Keighley.
The film Calendar Girls was filmed in Kettlewell, one of the most attractive villages in the Yorkshire Dales. Park Gill Beck (photo 2) runs through the centre of Kettlewell and to the south of the Racehorses Hotel. Photo 3 was taken on a sunny winter’s day with Gate Cote Scar beyond.
The Blue Bell Inn is just across the road from the Racehorses.
