The Ramsholt Arms is in a beautiful location by the banks of the the River Deben, and as the photo shows, it’s popular with boaters. Back in 1908 when the pub opened the scene was very different, with several quays with barges transporting bricks from the brickworks along the river.
Nowadays the pub is a popular destination for day trippers from Ipswich and Woodbridge and the pub garden is full of diners on summer weekends. The food is highly regarded and the owners are also in charge of the Michelin starred Crown at nearby Ufford.
The pub garden was the setting for a scene in the 2019 film Yesterday where the main character Jack realises for the first time that his friends have never heard of the Beatles.
