The Red Lion is a 4 star hotel on the 14th century harbour at the foot of the picture postcard village of Clovelly.
It’s hard to believe now, but when the core of the pub was built in the 1700s this was a cider house serving local fishermen, and remained so for a long time. It was rebuilt in 1928 for the Hamlyn family, owners of the village, who also built the New Inn at the top of the main street.
It is open all day and serves meals and snacks lunchtimes and evenings. For a slightly posher meal, the Harbour Restaurant is open in the evening. The hotel has 17 en-suite rooms.
