The Red Lion in Revesby is a curious mix of traditional Lincolnshire red brick and Victorian Gothic styling. Gothic architecture is actually pretty rare in pubs anywhere. The gatehouse to Revesby Abbey and a farmhouse in the village are in a similar style so the same architect may have designed all three.
The pub is owned by the local Bateman’s Brewery and sells three of their beers, including the tasty XXXB. It offers campervan stopovers so we took advantage and enjoyed a good meal. It also offers some ensuite bedrooms if you prefer a more stylish stopover.
A Morris Minor owners club met the same evening in the pub garden and about 30 cars and owners turned up, some travelling from a fair distance to get there.
