Ring O’Bells, Shipley

3 Bradford Road
Shipley
BD18 3PR
01274 584386

The Ring O’Bells is a large community pub on the outskirts of Shipley (photo 1). It dates from Edwardian times and has a splendid collection of cut glass windows advertising Ales and Spirits, and indicating the Music Room, the Buffet Bar and the Snug (photos 2, 3 & 4).

These rooms are now gone but the old Smoke Room with its fixed seating and carved armrests is still intact. The Ring O’Bells was originally a Tetley’s pub and Tetley Bitter is still sold, along with up to six other cask ales from local breweries. There is a weekly quiz, five TVs showing sports and live music most weekends. The Smoke Room hosts writers, artists and anglers’ groups.
