Surrounded by fells, the Screes Hotel is in the picture postcard village of Nether Wasdale. It gets its name from the craggy peaks in the photo which line the southern shore of Wastwater, the deepest lake in the Lake District.
The pub is now in the same ownership as the Strands Hotel across the road and sells the beers from its microbrewery. It has a traditional interior with flagstone floors and serves meals lunchtimes and evenings. Accommodation is available, either here or at the Strands across the road.
