Smugglers Den, Trebellan

This 400 years old thatched pub is hidden away down narrow lanes close to the north Cornish coast. It’s in the hamlet of Trebellan, close to the village of Cubert. The Smuggler’s Den, as you might expect, has a history of smuggling and also has its own ghost.

It’s modernised inside but retains a good deal of character with oak beams and a large old fireplace. It is known for its range of real ales and if you want to stay over there’s a campsite right across the road. It also provides food of course, either as bar meals or in a separate restaurant. There is an annual pie and ale festival and regular live music.
