The Victory Inn in Brighton has a splendid green and cream tiled facade which was added by Tamplin’s Brewery in a 1910 refit (photo 1). The pub name comes from Nelson’s flagship which gets pride of place in a lovely tiled painting over the entrance (photo 3).
Inside many features from the Edwardian remodelling remain including the bar counter, fireplace and several exquisite gilded cut glass windows (photo 2).
The pub is in the heart of Brighton’s massively popular Lanes area and is nearly always busy with locals and tourists. There are three changing cask beers and a range of craft and bottles, and there are occasional tap takeovers from independent breweries. Food is pub classics with a few twists and is served all day until 8.30pm. There is live music and DJs at weekends and live sport on TV.
