Alexandra Tavern, Norwich ⭐️

The Alexandra is a proper corner local at the end of a terrace of Victorian brick built cottages in the Heigham Grove area of town. It’s clearly a locals pub but it also welcomes beer fans from far and wide. There are up to five cask ales, usually including Ale X, a session bitter from the local Mr Winter’s Brewery.

It’s still got a traditional layout of two rooms with bench seating and there’s a dartboard and a nice stained glass Bullards panel in the lounge. It’s celebrated for its food with an inventive Specials menu which changes every day. I enjoyed a delicious Moroccan chickpea soup.

The Alexandra is a classic and well worth the walk from the town centre, and as an added bonus, the famous and award winning Fat Cat is only a five minute stroll away.
