Inn Signs

Inn signs outside pubs have been around since medieval times. Signs usually display an image related to the name of the pub and most hang from a bracket attached to the pub. Other signs are freestanding and some (gallows signs) cross the full width of the road. Some signs are three dimensional, sometimes carved in stone or wood and sometimes sculpted.
